As a child I was told a story of a tree that stored memories of everything that went on around it in its leaves. In the autumn it would lose its leaves but transfer the memories into storage in its trunk. That record could be seen as distinct rings when the tree was cut. I had many friends who grew up on a family farm and a lot of them obtained degrees in Agriculture and took over the farm. Farming was always hard but the family farm became almost impossible as the economy grew worse and large corporations took over, buying up many of these family farms. The tree's memories are of a farm, once active , now in the last stages of decay and close to abandonment.
