"First Crow-Bearer of Souls"

Inspiration

The crow is one of the Naive American Totem Animals considered magical, shape shifting, bringing energy, spiritual strength, and revealing a higher perspective. Crow is often seen by ancient cultures as the bearer of souls from the realm of the living to the afterlife. He frequently is seen near the hour of death. If the person has suffered a great wrong during life, Crow may return the soul to right the wrong .Crow occurs in dreams as a bringer of omens. The omens could be in the form of a warning or a Spiritual Blessing. Crow is pictured sitting on a branch of a dead decaying tree set against the warm colors of daylight and the cool colors of night . I chose a pseudo pointillism style for the background to suggest the many incongruous legends Crow represents.
