Queen of Hearts is a whimsical version of the well known face card, but with an Renaissance feel and antique elements. Our queen sports an unconventional crown, more like a headpiece, and occupies a floral environment against a blue patterned wood panel, and framed with a delicate metal caging over an antique wooden frame. The queen's hearts are shiny and golden. The outer background is reminiscent of the floral patterns of rugs popular at least a century ago or more. Mixed periods aside, the scene is flanked on the bottom by heavy metal eyelets with ribbon strung through them and on the top by my trademark rivets. While there is some playing card symmetry here, everything not symmetrical is balanced in some way. This was such a fun artwork to build, piece by piece, with no real rules.
