Dead of Night reveals a darkly intense hawk, perched in the woods at night, awaiting some unknown prey. His markings are electric and his gaze paralyzing. The tree branch cover is illuminated in the moonlight as he peers through. This hawk, lurking in the dead of night, waiting to rip something apart, is not real. He symbolizes all that seems worse to us at night. He represents the stresses of the modern world for which there is no help and no recourse in the middle of the night, when we can't sleep, and can see no resolution. While we stew in our impatience and foment our fears, we must remember that somehow, everything will look better in the morning.
