Parakeets have been a common sight in the London area, with flocks of them living wild all across the capital. They provide a colourful if not noisy addition to the capitals fauna. Some 8,600 breeding pairs of ring-necked parakeets now live in the U.K. and many people are concerned of the effect that they will have on native birds.. The ring-necked parakeet — or rose-ringed parakeet as it is sometimes called — is hard to miss. Bright green with a striking red beak, long tail and signature pink and black band along the neck, the ring-necked parakeet is an active and very loud bird.
