Hazel Blake Digital Art Australia
DIGITAL ART, FINE ART AND CONTEMPORARY PORTRAITURE. I started creating digital art in January 2014 although I have already spent over twenty years photographing people and nature and over ten thousand hours using Photoshop and studying my craft. I currently have 3 tiers of endeavour as an artist ; digital artistry – a place to play with colour, fun and whimsy (which I present to you here on this page), my fine art conceptual work and my portrait photography work – both of which you can find on my own website (see the link above). The digital art for me is generally a fun place to challenge myself and stretch my skill base. I am particularly drawn to images of people and light. My conceptual work is more serious, exploring women’s realities and emotions - questions of female beauty, physicality, relationships and our spiritual connections to nature and each other. This work is on my website and displayed in the Margaret River Gallery in Western Australia. My portraiture work has grown out of a desire to use my own models in artworks. The portraiture has been so enjoyable that I am now pursuing contemporary portraiture as another artistic aspiration. In all my works I use Photoshop to blur the line between photography and art, creating a painterly style filled with precious details, texture and depth. Incorporating rich colours, multiple lighting layers and textures, I set out to achieve the perfect ethereal light, toning and contrasts to complement my storytelling style.
